Wake Your Commanding Master

Keep your hand firmly upon the helm of thought. In the bark of your soul reclines the commanding Master; He does but sleep: wake Him. Self-control is strength; Right Thought is mastery; Calmness is power. Say unto your heart, "Peace, be still!"
From James Allen's As a Man Thinketh

The straight path

How direct is your path to your ultimate goal? Are doubts and fears adding unnecessary detours to your journey?
“To put away aimlessness and weakness, and to begin to think with purpose, is to enter the ranks of those strong ones who only recognize failure as one of the pathways to attainment; who make all conditions serve them, and who think strongly, attempt fearlessly, and accomplish masterfully.
Having conceived of his purpose, a man should mentally mark out a straight pathway to its achievement, looking neither to the right nor the left. Doubts and fears should be rigorously excluded; they are disintegrating elements, which break up the straight line of effort, rendering it crooked, ineffectual, useless.”

The search begins

Diagnosed ADD back in spring 2012, I've recently been questioning my "lack of attention". Taking stimulants allows me to sit on a computer and work all day, but maybe there is a reason my mind doesn't naturally enjoy this activity (at least not for more than a couple hours).
For the last two months I have been working for a startup in Cincinnati called Frameri. I was strongly considering going back on stimulants full time because I could not focus on the project. Then I read a wonderful book called The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It taught me how to set aside my fears and listen to my heart.

My heart is telling me to travel. I am leaving Frameri on Friday, and though I am sad to leave the team (I have come to love Kevin and Konrad like brothers), it feels like the absolute right thing to do. And luckily the team agrees and is now supporting my decision 100%.

This blog is an ongoing search for enlightenment and a message to anyone else feeling anxious or depressed with their current life to set aside their fear for a moment and listen to their hearts. If you're unsure how, read The Alchemist.

And always feel free to ask me questions. I will respond to every single email. Reach me at Noah.j.jeffrey@gmail.com
